Atiku, Okowa visit Babangida in Minna

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and his running mate Ifeanyi Okowa on Friday visited former military Head of State Ibrahim Babangida in his hometown of Minna, Niger State.

“It is always a delight to share time with General Ibrahim Babangida.

“His counsel and understanding of our country are priceless as we work to recover Nigeria from years of economic and security decline,” Mr Atiku said in a statement.

Atiku also expressed optimism that the crisis rocking the party will be resolved before the general elections.

He said the party would overcome the current disagreement with the five governors and come out better and stronger before the 2023 general.

He described the attack on his convoy in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, as unfortunate, adding that the attack was sponsored by the political leaders in the state.

Also speaking, Okowa thanked Babangida for “his wise counsel on our continued efforts to #RecoverNigeria for all Nigerians.”

Also present at the meeting were Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal and Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku among other PDP chieftains.

Other PDP chieftains in Atiku’s entourage included former National Security Adviser, General Aliyu Gusau (retd), former governors of Niger, Adamawa, Imo, Jigawa and Osun states, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, Alhaji Boni Haruna, Emeka Ihedioha, Alhaji Sule Lamido, Olagunsoye Onyilola, among others.
