ABN TV, a leading online media outlet, has announced the postponement of its 2022 Service Award billed to hold next month.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the award was earlier scheduled to hold on Dec. 10, in Abuja.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja on Monday, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee of the event; Amb. Alex Nwankwo expressed regret over the shift in the date.

He apologised to award nominees and partners of the media outfit who had been looking forward to the event.

He attributed concerns over the safety of guests who will be coming in from various parts of the country and beyond to the postponement.

Recall that some foreign missions in Nigeria, including the U.S Embassy, had recently raised security alerts over alleged planned terror attacks in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Nwankwo, therefore, noted that the company’s management would announce a new date when the award will hold in Abuja.

He equally cited the closure of the Sheraton Hotel Hotel, Abuja by its new management due to renovation as a further reason for the postponement of the event.

“It was billed to take place at Sheraton Hotel Abuja, but security concerns in recent times have caused a change in date, a development the company regrets.

“In recognition of men and women who have impacted humanity through selfless services, ABN TV had set up the award to spur them to do more,” Nwankwo said.
