Senator Abba Moro Emerges as Senate Minority Leader

In a significant development on Tuesday, Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District, has been appointed as the Senate Minority Leader.

Moro, a two-term Senator affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured the nomination from the opposition party in the red Chamber and was subsequently endorsed.

This leadership change comes as Senator Simon Davou Mwadkwon, who previously held the position and represented Plateau North Senatorial District, was ousted by the Appeal Court.

The Senate, earlier in its proceedings, had designated the Minority leader position to the North Central region. Despite being a first-time Senator, Senator Mwadkwon had been nominated by the minority caucus.

It is noteworthy that Senator Abba Moro, the newly elected Minority leader, has a political history that includes serving as a former Minister of Interior during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

This development marks a transition in the leadership of the Senate Minority, and Senator Moro’s emergence is expected to bring his wealth of experience to the forefront as he assumes this pivotal role in the legislative landscape.
