Senate Presidency: Sen Ndume accuses aspirants of vote buying

The lawmaker representing Borno South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Ali Ndume, has accused Senate President aspirants of vote buying.

Speaking on Arise TV, Ndume provided insight into the sum of money allegedly being shared by Senate President aspirants to senators-elect.

The lawmaker, who is one of longest serving members of the red chamber, said some aspirants boast of their capabilities to share as much as $200,000 with fellow members to buy their votes.

In his words, “I’ve said several times that the unfortunate thing that is happening is that the other candidates are talking about money.

“The only qualification that they are displaying is the amount of money that they tell Senators-elect that they can give them.

“People are talking about figures, but nobody has approached me. Some are talking about 10, 20, 30, 40 and even more than that.

“Some are even boasting that they will give every Senator up to $200,000. Figures are flying. That is the truth. That is honestly very unfortunate.”
