Rwandan President Paul Kagame Announces Fourth Term Bid
Rwandan President Paul Kagame has revealed his intention to run for a fourth term in the upcoming elections scheduled for next year.
In an interview with Jeune Afrique, a French-language news magazine, Kagame, who has maintained a firm grip on the country for decades, stated, “Yes, I am indeed a candidate.”
He expressed gratitude for the trust Rwandans have shown in him, asserting, “I will always serve them, as long as I can,” as reported on Tuesday.

Prior to this announcement, Kagame had not definitively stated his intentions, though he oversaw contentious constitutional changes that enabled him to pursue a third term.
