Qatar wants FIFA to ban beer at World Cup stadiums

According to reports, the World Cup host nation of Qatar is putting pressure on FIFA to ban beer sales at the eight World Cup stadiums.

Although Qatar rigorously regulates the sale of alcohol, it is due to be available in the vicinity of stadiums and fan zones, as well as in hotels.

One of FIFA’s largest sponsors, Budweiser, was informed on Saturday to move product booths at stadiums to less noticeable places.

It was gathered that Qatar 2022, now wants to go even further and that discussions are ongoing between FIFA and Budweiser.

In response to the request to move its outlets, AB InBev told newsmen that, “AB InBev was informed on November 12 and is working with FIFA to relocate the concession outlets to locations as directed.

“We are working with FIFA to bring the best possible experience to the fans. Our focus is on delivering the best possible consumer experience under the new circumstances.’’
