Mrs Emily Chidinma Osuji’s nomination as Executive Director of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has been confirmed by the Nigerian Senate.

Mrs Osuji was confirmed in plenary on Wednesday after the committee on banking, insurance, and other financial institutions adopted a report.

Mrs Osuji’s nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari was in compliance with Section 8 of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation Act, 2006, according to Senator Sani Uba, the committee’s Chairman.

Senator Uba added that Mrs Osuji possessed the academic qualifications, technical knowledge and professional experience to be the Executive Director of the NDIC.

He said the committee had not received any petitions against her candidacy throughout its investigation and that she had been vetted by the Nigeria Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and has the Code of Conduct Acknowledgement slip.

Following that, the Senate confirmed Mrs Osuji as Executive Director of NDIC.
