Nigerian govt approves creation of crèches at markets, workplaces
The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the creation of crèches in marketplaces and workplaces across the country to increase working women’s productivity and promote breastfeeding.
President Bola Tinubu made the announcement on Wednesday in Abuja at the inauguration of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs (FMoWA) remodeled workplace nursery (creche).
The President, who was represented by Dr Salma Anas, his Special Assistant on Health, stated that the innovation would benefit national growth.
He praised Mrs. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, Minister of Women Affairs, for her commendable achievements in her first 100 days in office.
“We will continue to support you to replicate this in every state of the federation and in every workplace.
“This will be extended to those working in the informal sector because more women are working outside the formal sector.”
