Adamawa First Lady initiates medical outreach
The wife of Adamawa State Governor, Hajiya Lami Fintiri, has commenced a week-long free medical outreach for people in Adamawa Central Senatorial District.
The exercise was flagged off on Saturday at the Yola Specialists Hospital.
Speaking during the flag-off, Mrs Fintiri said the outreach was organised under her pet project–Fresh Air Profile Empowerment Foundation.
She explained that the initiative was part of her efforts to support the state government’s drive to revitalise the health sector.
The First Lady said the outreach would attend to patients suffering from health challenges like cervical cancer, diabetes, hypertension, malaria and other related diseases.
“Thousands of women would be screened against the dreaded cervical cancer,” she said.
According to her, seasoned medical experts drawn from across the country had been engaged in the exercise at no cost to the patients.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Prof. Abdullahi Isah, lauded the initiative of the governor’s wife, saying it would impact positively on the people.
He described the intervention as timely and very much desirous for those suffering from different ailments.
The commissioner said the ministry would monitor the exercise for maximum results, adding that the state government had constructed seven additional hospitals and stocked them with drugs and medical equipment.
