The Speaker of Zamfara House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Magarya, has commended the media in the state for upholding professionalism in the reportage of the assembly’s activities.
Magarya who made the commendation in Gusau on Monday during a media chat with legislative correspondents in the state said the journalists had been fair and credible in reporting the legislature.
“I am happy to receive you this morning; I must commend your support and cooperation in promoting activities of the Sixth Assembly under my leadership.
“I am highly impressed with the performance of all the media outfits covering the assembly.
“On behalf of myself, members and the entire staff of the house, I appreciate your patience and good conduct while working with us,” he said.
The speaker however called on journalists to build trust and continue to always ensure credibility and transparency in performing their duties.

He added that the media as the fourth estate of the realm played a vital role in societal development.
“You always offer humanitarian services as you raise the voice of the voiceless in society.
“I urge you to continue with credible and unbiased reportage. Your reports should focus on building unity, peace and stability in the state and country in general”, he advised.
Earlier, the Director-General of Press Affairs and Public Relations in the assembly, Malam Nasiru Biyabiki, said the meeting aimed at promoting cordiality between the management of the house and media representatives.
Biyabiki commended the speaker for always giving an audience to the press.
He said the media representatives in the house deserved commendation, considering their sacrifice and professionalism being exhibited.
