University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, United Kingdom, has extended an exclusive invitation to renowned Nigerian media strategist and development advocate, Jamilu Yusuf, to participate in the launch of its newly established Centre for African Social and Economic Transformation (CASET).
The event, billed for May 22, 2025, at the university’s Frenchay Campus in Bristol, is expected to serve as a global hub for innovative research, policy development, and sustainable solutions addressing Africa’s socio-economic challenges.
Jamilu Yusuf, the Managing Director and Publisher of Access News and Magazine and the Chief Executive of Nigeria Customs Broadcasting Network, is among a select group of African leaders invited to the high-level gathering aimed at fostering collaboration between academia, government, and the private sector.
In a formal letter signed by the university’s Deputy Vice Chancellor and Registrar, Jo Midgley, the institution expressed delight at Yusuf’s anticipated presence, noting his wealth of experience in strategic communication, public service, and sustainable development.
“The Centre is a pioneering initiative guided by our ethos of enterprise and collaboration, designed to work with African stakeholders to drive solutions to pressing issues including education, training, and inclusive growth,” the letter read in part.
Jamilu, a former Senior Special Assistant on Media to the President in the Office of the First Lady, has led over 20 national projects impacting more than 50,000 Nigerians. He is also an alumnus of the prestigious International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) organized by the U.S. Department of State.
Reacting to the invitation, Yusuf said the recognition affirms the relevance of African-led media and policy innovations on the global stage.
“This is a significant opportunity to shape the conversation on Africa’s future using practical, transformative ideas that connect the grassroots with global platforms,” he stated.
The upcoming launch of CASET is expected to attract academics, policy-makers, and development experts from across the continent, positioning UWE as a strategic ally in Africa’s social and economic renaissance.
