Stomping: Lauren James only apologized on social media – Michelle Alozie

Super Falcons star, Michelle Alozie has said that England star Lauren James did not reach out to her privately after the stomping incident that occurred at the recently concluded Women’s World Cup.

Recall that Lauren James who plays for Chelsea women, stomped on Michelle Alozie in the round of 16 tie which the Super Falcons lost 4-2 on penalties after normal and extra time ended goalless. The incident earned the English footballer a red card and a two-game suspension.

Following the outrage the incident triggered, the Chelsea footballer took to social media to apologize.

When asked if Lauren reached out to her privately after the incident during an interview with Channels Television, Michelle Alozie who plays her club football with Houston Dash said: “No, she did not reach out to me but the apology was on Twitter and Instagram.”

On the photo of the incident becoming a meme for social media users, Michelle Alozie stated that she found it funny.

In her words, “I think it was kind of funny how it all came about. After the game, obviously, I was really upset and wasn’t really looking at my phone. So, some of my teammates were like ‘Michelle, you have to see this photo of you maybe it would make you smile a little bit’ because I was kind of upset.”

Following their superb performance at the Women’s World Cup, the Super Falcons have now moved eight places to peak at 32nd in the latest FIFA world rankings.

The Super Falcons who did not lose any match in open play at the World Cup, were the least ranked in their group but shocked bookmakers after they finished second in a section that housed Olympics champions Canada and hosts Australia.

With the recent ranking, the Super Falcons are still the leading team in Africa ahead of South Africa (45th), Cameroon (56th), Morocco (58th), and Ghana (59th). Randy Waldrum’s ladies were also rated the 10th best team of the World Cup tournament ahead of other countries, including Germany and Italy.
