Senator Nnamani dumps PDP after losing re-election bid

249

Following his defeat at the hands of the Labour Party (LP), Senator Chimaroke Nnamani of Enugu East has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Kevin Chukwu of the LP won the seat after scoring 69,136 votes, defeating Nnamani, who scored 48,701 votes.

Following the murder of former LP standard-bearer Oyibo Chukwu three days prior to the initial February 25 date, the election was held last Saturday.

Nnamani stated in a statement on Monday that he had decided to leave the PDP due to irreconcilable differences with the party’s national leadership after consulting with both his allies and constituents.

The former Enugu State governor, who was unequivocal about his support for  President-elect and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu, was expelled weeks before the 2023 general elections for alleged anti-party activities.

Nevertheless, Nnamani reaffirmed his acquaintance with the President-elect and promised to continue to partner with him.
