President Bola Tinubu and the 14th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi met behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday night.

The meeting comes after Sanusi returned from the Niger Republic, where he met with the military junta that seized power from the democratically elected President Muhamad Bazoum.

The former CBN Governor arrived at the Presidential Villa around 8:25 pm.

His arrival came immediately after a high delegation of the Nigeria Islamic Ulama met with the President.

When asked about his visit to Niger, Sanusi simply said, it’s fine.

Details of his meeting are yet to be disclosed.

However, an unconfirmed source avowed that the coup leaders took time to listen to the requests of the Emir, among which was for them to give a window of amicable resolutions to the problems.

Sanusi who was escorted to Niamey, the capital of Niger Republic by some of his closest associates and staff, was warmly received by the new military junta.

The meeting reportedly focused on the way out of the quagmire in the country.

ECOWAS leaders are scheduled to meet on Thursday (today) for the next line of actions after the seven-day deadline given to the coup plotters elapsed.
