President Tinubu Hails Africa’s Investment Potential at China-Africa Summit
President Bola Tinubu has highlighted Africa’s vast opportunities for investment, growth, and development, citing the continent’s vibrant population, productive economy, and abundant natural resources.
Speaking during a bilateral meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Wednesday in Beijing, Tinubu emphasized the importance of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in strengthening the partnership between Africa and China.
“The African spirit for FOCAC is based upon mutual respect and partnership that promotes development, happiness, peace, and stability for our people,” Tinubu remarked. “We are in this journey together. We believe that we share common interests, which are investments and development.”
As Chairman of ECOWAS, Tinubu expressed his satisfaction with the strategic partnership being fostered, noting that it is mutually beneficial for both Africa and China.
“Africa is a huge opportunity for economic development. As great people, we are willing to partner for progress and development,” Tinubu added, calling for a focused collaboration that ensures both sides benefit from the relationship.
The President, attending the ninth FOCAC in Beijing, also thanked the Chinese government for the warm reception given to him and his delegation. “I thank you for receiving us warmly. I am happy, in spite of the jetlag; we were well received and we are ready to move the ball,” he concluded.
Premier Li Qiang affirmed China’s readiness to work with Nigeria to deliver on the mutual understanding reached by President Xi Jinping and President Tinubu under the recently established comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
