Palestinian killed in clashes with Israeli soldiers in West Bank

One Palestinian was killed and 30 others injured on Thursday during clashes with Israeli soldiers in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, Palestinian medics and eyewitnesses said.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a statement that Wasim Khalifa, 18, was shot in the chest by Israeli soldiers and died right after he was brought to Nablus Hospital.

There has been no immediate Israeli response to the killing of Khalifa.

Palestinian eyewitnesses told newsmen that Israeli soldiers backed by armoured vehicles and a bulldozer stormed the eastern area of Nablus to protect dozens of Israeli settlers arriving at the Joseph Tomb for prayers.

Clashes broke out in the area between dozens of Palestinian protesters and the Israeli soldiers, who fired tear gas, rubber bullets and live ammunition to disperse the Palestinians, said the eyewitnesses.
