OISD, U.S. Embassy train female journalists in Taraba

In an effort to advance the skills and opportunities for women journalists in Taraba State, the Organization for Innovation and Sustainable Development (OISD), through the sponsorship of the American Embassy Public Affairs Section, Abuja has initiated a comprehensive three-day training program.
This training, conducted in partnership with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), focuses on investigative reporting, digital media proficiency, leadership, and gender-sensitive journalism.
The training program is part of a broader initiative to promote Equal Opportunities for Women in Media, with a specific emphasis on the northeastern region of Nigeria.

Female journalists in Taraba State, like many of their counterparts in the northern regions, have encountered obstacles related to social backgrounds and religious factors, hindering their professional development.
This training which is extending its impact across all six states in the northeast region was held in Yola, Adamawa State last week and will be held in the remaining four states in the region in the coming weeks.
The experienced trainers leading the sessions aim to empower female journalists to actively engage and excel in their chosen careers.
The program targets over 150 female journalists from the entire northeast region of Nigeria, aligning with the United States Embassy’s commitment to promoting gender equality within the journalism profession.
