Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), says the Nigerian Army would continue to meet the security demands of all Nigerians.

Yahaya spoke at the start of a three-day Senior Command and Leadership Seminar hosted by the Department of Army Training at the Headquarters 3 Division Nigerian Army in Jos on Tuesday.

The COAS pledged the army’s commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for the nation’s socio-economic growth in a statement released by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, on Tuesday.

He noted that troops’ efforts across theaters of operations had continued to produce outstanding outcomes, and that hostilities had evolved beyond traditional warfare to include cyber and media warfare.

According to him, efforts should be made to inculcate the required capabilities in the army’s senior leadership in order to manage the intricacies of non-kinetic operations.

To achieve the common aim of securing the country, he asked commanders to aggressively engage with stakeholders in society and develop cooperation with sister services and security agencies.

Yahaya thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his unwavering support and strategic direction to the Nigerian Army in carrying out its constitutional responsibilities.

Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Ali, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, said the seminar would allow participants to improve their individual capacities while also contributing meaningfully to the improvement of army operations.

Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalam Ibrahim, the Army’s Chief of Training, said the non-kinetic line of operations was critical in dealing with today’s security concerns.

He went on to say that the operations were now being reviewed in order to give the Nigerian Army the push it required to fulfill its constitutional responsibility.
