On Sunday, March 27th, Nigeria and Ghana will meet at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja in the final leg of a likely explosive FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 play-off round.

The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the date of the reverse match to the Confederation of African Football on Tuesday, and the Ghana Football Association must now declare whether the first leg will take place on Wednesday, March 23rd, or Thursday, March 24th, inside the Cape Coast Stadium.

The final leg match will be the 59th senior match between the two West African giants in a turbulent 71-year rivalry. It will also be the first time the Super Eagles have played at the country’s premier sporting venue since defeating Sudan’s Falcons of Jediane 3-1 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match on October 15, 2014.

Nigeria qualified for the play-off round after defeating Cape Verde, Liberia, and the Central African Republic in a qualifying pool, while Ghana advanced from a group that included South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Ethiopia.
