NAOWA commissions borehole, unveils bus for barracks community

The Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) on Wednesday commissioned a solar borehole and unveiled a 32-seater bus for barracks community at the Mogadishu Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja.

While commissioning the projects, the president of the Association and wife of the Chief of Army Staff, Mrs Salamatu F. Yahaya said the construction of the borehole was to enhance the living condition of the people of the barracks community.

According to her, the gesture showed the commitment of the chairperson of NAOWA, Army Headquarters, Garrison Chapter to improve the the standards in the barracks.

The NAOWA president said the borehole which is solar powered would ease the challenge of water accessibility within the barracks community, stressing that it would be providing water at all times.

She added that the bus would help to ease movement of NAOWA members for activities.

On her part, NAOWA coordinator, Asma’u Garba appreciated their husbands for giving them the needed support to executive the project, reiterating that the execution of the project would not be possible without the supports of their husbands.

She said project was in tune with her vision of sustaining legacies and upholding the tenets of unity and service, adding that the association was committed in carrying out charitable works not only with the various barracks of the federation but also outside the barracks.

Highlights of the events were cultural displays, presentation of plaques, amongst others.
