The National Agricultural Mechanisation Cooperative Society of Nigeria (NAMCON) claims to have trained 1,500 people in chicken farming in Kaduna State’s 23 local government areas.

Mr Aliyu Waziri, the cooperative society’s National President, made the announcement in Abuja on Wednesday.

Waziri stated that the majority of those empowered were women, and that women’s empowerment was part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s plan to bring 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.

According to him, the cooperative society has been using the phrase to contribute its quota to eliminating unemployment among young Nigerians, particularly women, in line with the current administration’s goals.

He said the beneficiaries came from Kaduna’s 23 local government areas, and that the program aimed to empower 15 million women in the poultry farming industry.

It was also created, he claimed, to help the government create jobs, alleviate poverty, and reduce food insecurity in the country.
