Mechanic arraigned for alleged criminal breach of trust

A 39-year-old mechanic, Agio Diddie, was on Wednesday arraigned in an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for alleged criminal breach of trust.

The police charged Diddie, whose address was not provided with damage to property and breach of peace.

The Prosecution Counsel, E.O. Adaraloye told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan.,14 at about 11a.m.in  Onifade Adeleye, Ayetori-Itele area of Ota.

Adaraloye alleged that the complainant, Mohammed Sumainah, gave the defendant his ”Xterra” Jeep with registration number, LN 535 AAA to service.

He added that the defendant damaged the vehicle engine and connecting wires.

The prosecutor said that the defendant further refused to reinstall the damaged parts after the complainant bought new parts.

Adaraloye said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections  240(d) and 451 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun,2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge

Magistrate A.O. Adeyemi admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

Adeyemi ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.

She adjourned the case until June 21 for further hearing.
