The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has launched the second phase of its Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) awareness campaign in five locations in Lagos.

The sensitization will take place in Ikorodu, Agboyi Ketu, Igando Ikotun, Agbado Oke Odo, and Lagos Island zones, according to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN).

The LCCI Liquefied Petroleum Gas Group and Community Development Committee organized the #EkoforGasforEko event on Friday in Lagos (CDC).

Participants in the pilot plan received 15 cylinders and industrial burners, which were distributed at the Sabo Market in Ikorodu.

The initiative, according to Dr. Michael Olawale-Cole, President of the LCCI, was created to raise awareness about the advantages of utilizing LPG as an alternative to biomass (charcoal, firewood) and kerosene.

The LCCI, in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, organized the first phase of the Eko Gas project in 2013, which comprised the distribution of 20,000 units of 3kg and 6kg filled LPG cylinders around the state, according to Olawale-Cole.

He went on to say that the decision was in keeping with the chamber’s mission to create a favourable business environment, as well as Goal 7 of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, which is about access to dependable, sustainable, and modern energy.
