Lawmaker donates cash, accommodation to corp members, official

A lawmaker, Tunji Ajuloopin, representing Ekiti, Isin, Irepodun and Oke-ero Federal Constituency, on Saturday donated cash and accommodation to members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.

Mr Ajuloopin also extended the gesture to Mr Abdulrasaq Atta, the scheme’s Local Government Inspector Officer in the area.

The corp members who had paid a courtesy visit to the lawmaker in Omu-Aran applauded him for the kind gesture.

Mr Ajuloopin in his remark said he was surprised why it took a long time before meeting, considering his love and passion for the corps members, who were on a national service to their fatherland.

“I don’t know why it took us so long a time for us to meet, I have been elected years ago and I am just meeting the new set of corps members for the first time.

“Let us know how we can help you to settle down in our community.

“We know the essence of the NYSC, we know the challenges and when you come, we should be able to provide things that will make your stay comfortable in our constituency.

”I am not far from my constituency, once I am not doing anything in Abuja, I will be here in my constituency.

“You can see in me a brother and a friend. I promised that the period you are going to spend here, I will be a supporter and pillar for you,” he said.

On his part, Atta, said the visit was in line with the NYSC Environmental Sanitation Day, which was being observed across the country.

Atta said the NYSC was trying to revive the environmental sanitation day, adding that the programme was taking place nationwide.

“We want to solicit that if there is anyway we can come in, in anything you are doing in the constituency, we will not hesitate to help out,” he said.

Mr Ibrahim Tunji, the Corps Liason Officer, appreciated the lawmaker for the kind gesture.

“We are very glad to meet you in person, I have heard your name several times and I must say I am impressed with what I heard about you,” Tunji said.
