Kwankwaso pays tribute to late Emir of Kano
Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has paid glowing tribute to the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, who passed away in June 2014.
The monarch, one of Nigeria’s most revered Muslim leaders and a vocal critic of the Islamist Boko Haram militants, died, at age 83 in June 2014 after a long illness, shortly after he returned home from London, where he had been receiving treatment.
Remembering the late monarch nine years after his demise, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in the February 25 election, Kwankwaso, in a message via his Twitter handle, said the late Emir was a guardian to all people of Kano State.
He said: “On this day, we remember our late father, an indefatigable guardian to all the people of Kano. The late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, who passed on nine years ago has left us with a legacy that we cherish and which we shall always protect. Allah ya jaddada wa Sarki rahama. Allah ya taimaki Kano da Kanawa, Ameen.”
