Katsina State has lost the lawmaker representing Bakori Local Government Area in the state House of Assembly, Dr. Ibrahim Kurami.

Kurami, who is said to be in his sixties, died Sunday night after a brief illness in far away Medina, Saudi Arabia, where he had gone for Umrah.

The deceased had contested for the seat in a bye-election on December 5, 2020 in which he polled 20,446 votes to defeat his closest rival of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Aminu Magaji, who garnered 11,356 votes.

The seat became vacant after the former occupant of the seat, Abdulrazaq Tsiga died in May 2020 after a brief illness.

The spokesperson for the state assembly, Nasiru Zango was yet to respond to an inquiry about Karumi’s death at the time of filing this report.
