Ten years after suicide bombers attacked THISDAY in Abuja and Kaduna, unidentified gunmen again stormed Utako’s Abuja office in the early hours of Thursday.

The gunmen entered through the back fence of the company premises.

Although the mission of the gunmen, who arrived on the scene around 3 a.m. Thursday, has yet to be known, the company’s private security officers, who were on duty, said the gunmen treated everyone on duty inhumanely, mainly production staff. They threatened to kill them all if they tried to call the police.

The gunmen, who left after about 45 minutes of the frightening operation, vowed to return in the coming days.

Meanwhile, THISDAY management has since reported the matter to Divisional Police Headquarters, Utako, Abuja.

On April 26, 2012, suicide bombers attacked THISDAY in Abuja and Kano, killing at least 11 people. However, as the rescue was underway in Abuja after the attack, another explosion occurred in his office in Kaduna.

The Kaduna attack happened on Ahmadu Bello Way’s Kontagora Road, Kaduna, in a media housing including THISDAY newspaper and The Sun.

Two security personnel and the suicide bomber, who was traveling in an SUV, died in the attack in Abuja, while five other support personnel were injured.
