Gunmen kidnap Ogun businessman, shoot in-law
Segun Oparinde, a businessman from Imeko in Ogun State’s Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, was kidnapped by gunmen who attacked him at the entrance to his home.
Bello Ibrahim, the in-law of Oparinde, is said to have been shot during the operation, which took place Tuesday night at about 11.30 p.m. Bello Ibrahim allegedly ran outside when he heard the businessman screaming for assistance.
The shooters then took Oparinde’s car and drove off with him. They arrived at a site, parked the car, and then went into a thicket.
Oparinde’s in-law had reportedly been rushed to the hospital for treatment, according to a community leader who begged for anonymity for security reasons.
He said, “His in-law, Bello Ibrahim, who was shot, is receiving treatment at the Imeko General Hospital. His vehicle was later seen this morning at Igbo Ifa Iwa Street, Imeko town.
“It was abandoned in the main town. They have dragged him (Oparinde) into the bush. We are yet to get any help from security agencies. We have called the police and the Amotekun Corps. We want the government to help us rescue him.”
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, pleaded for some time to get details of the incident.
