Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has departed for New York to attend the 79th United Nations General Assembly.
According to a press release issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the Governor left earlier today from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, as part of the Nigerian delegation selected by President Bola Tinubu.
The UN General Assembly, scheduled to run from Saturday, 21st September to Sunday, 28th September 2024, will bring world leaders together to discuss progress on pressing global challenges.
The statement noted that, although President Tinubu has delegated Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima to lead the Nigerian team at the assembly, Governor Alia will participate in key events during the gathering.
It added that while in the United States, Governor Alia will attend various sideline events and engage in bilateral meetings aimed at driving development in Benue State.
These high-level discussions, according to the statement, will focus on strategies for leveraging technology and partnerships to advance sustainable development at subnational levels.
The Governor’s participation is expected to yield significant benefits for Benue, as it opens avenues for collaboration and investment opportunities.
