Major General Waidi Shaibu, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 of Operation Hadin Kai, paid an operational visit to the 112 Task Force Battalion, MAFA to express his gratitude for the soldiers’ efforts in preventing an ISWAP terrorist attack on the town on March 19, 2023, early on Sunday morning.
During the visit on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, General Shaibu praised the soldiers’ perseverance and intense fighting spirit, identifying it as one of the characteristics of soldiering.
He praised the soldiers’ coordinated efforts in not only defending MAFA town but also in successfully neutralizing a large number of the assailants in coordination with fighter aircraft Air Component Operation HADIN KAI, forcing any surviving terrorists to flee quickly.

Following that, the GOC made use of the operational visit to order all members of the 7 Division/Sector 1 Operation HADIN KAI to maintain their fortitude and alertness in order to deal effectively with the remaining Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists within the area of operations.
Following that, General Shaibu thanked the troops on behalf of Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff, for their actions in thwarting the attack on MAFA town. He reiterated the COAS’ orders for soldiers to pursue the remaining terrorists while not ignoring their hideouts and sanctuaries.
He also cautioned the soldiers to be brave, obedient, watchful, and professional, imploring them to abstain from any actions that would prevent the achievement of the operational goals they had been assigned.
