Kayode Fayemi, the governor of Ekiti State, said on Wednesday that he will run for President of Nigeria on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fayemi made the announcement with his wife Erelu Bisi Fayemi, APC Governorship aspirant Biodun Oyebanji, members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, and traditional rulers at the Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

In his words, “After a careful consideration of where we are as a nation, I believe that my entry into the race will offer Nigerians the opportunity to examine competing visions for national rebirth.

“I am a full-blooded child of Nigeria…I can boldly and confidently say, let us as one people dig deep into our history & hearts to revive hope and do the work of faith that will get us to the greater good.”

Fayemi has joined the huge list of hopefuls vying for the APC presidential ticket to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

Former Lagos State governor Bola Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Labour Minister Chris Ngige, Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, former Ogun State governor Ibikunle Amosun, Ebonyi State governor Dave Umahi, Cross River State governor Ben Ayade, Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello, and others are among the APC’s other candidates.
