DSS Takes Over SERAP Office in Abuja

Officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) have taken control of the Abuja office of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), in what the organization has described as an “unlawful occupation.”

The development was revealed in a statement posted on SERAP’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday. According to the organization, the DSS officers are demanding to meet with the directors of SERAP.

In its statement, SERAP called on President Bola Tinubu to step in and halt the security agency’s actions.

“President Tinubu must immediately direct the SSS to end the harassment, intimidation, and attack on the rights of Nigerians,” the organization urged.

This incident comes just 24 hours after SERAP called on Tinubu to use his influence to instruct the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to reverse the recent hike in the price of premium motor spirit (petrol), describing the increase as illegal and unconstitutional.
