DSS arrests Emefiele shortly after suspended by Tinubu
The suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has been arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS.
This is coming shortly after Emefiele was suspended on Friday by President Bola Tinubu.
The suspension takes immediate effect.
The Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey announced the suspension in a statement on Friday night.
He explained that the suspension of the CBN governor was based on an ongoing investigation as well as planned reforms in the financial sector.
Tinubu also appointed Mr Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi as the acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, in replacement for Emefiele.
