Court remands man for allegedly stealing motorcycle

An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded one Adeoye Olawale, 25, for allegedly stealing a Bajaj motorcycle, worth N380,000.

The Prosecutor, Insp Onah Glory, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Oct. 9, 2023, at Oke-Yidi Area, Modakeke.

Glory alleged that the defendant conspired with others now at large to commit housebreaking and stealing.

“The defendant stole one Bajaj Boxer Motorcycle with Reg No: KTU 502 QM, Engine No:DUXWMK09386 and Chasis No: MD2A18AX1MWKH42321, valued at N380,000, property of one Muriana Sodiq.

“The defendant at the time of arrest, has in his possession weeds suspected to be Indian hemp/cannabis that he cannot give satisfactory account of how he got them,” he told the court.

According to him, the offence contravened the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The defendant, who was not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty to a four-count charge of conspiracy, housebreaking, stealing and unlawful possession of India Hemp.

The Magistrate, Abosede Sarumi, did not grant the defendant bail but ordered his remand in Ile-Ife Nigerian Correctional Service.

Sarumi adjourned the case until Oct 16, for hearing.
