Jonah Jang, a former governor of Plateau State, was cleared on Friday by a state high court sitting in Jos, of the N6.3 billion in corruption charges that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had brought against him.
Yusuf Pam, a former cashier in the office of the Secretary to the Plateau State Government, was charged alongside the former governor but was released and found not guilty by the court presided over by Justice Christy Dabup.

Jang had pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari in March 2021 to pardon Jolly Nyame, a former governor of Taraba State, and Joshua Dariye, another former governor of Plateau State.
In April 2022, the President-led Council of State granted the pardon of 159 prisoners, including Dariye and Nyame.
Prior to their release, Nyame was serving a 12-year prison term for diverting N1.64 billion when he was governor of Taraba, while Dariye was serving a 10-year sentence for fraud involving N1.126 billion.
