Buhari visits Ebonyi amidst tight security

As President Muhammadu Buhari begins a two-day business visit to Ebonyi on Thursday, security has been ramped up in Abakaliki, the state capital.

It was gathered that the street of the State capital had a fresh look, with different security officers stationed at crucial spots.

Soldiers, police officers, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps personnel are among the security personnel on duty, according to reports.

Some locals in Abakaliki who talked with newsmen said they were looking forward to the president’s visit to the state.

Mr Eugene Nwangele described the visit as important, particularly because stakeholders in the Southeast zone are anticipated to provide Buhari with issues that concern the zone and the country as a whole.

The visit, according to Nwangele, will also provide a sense of recognition and belonging to the people of the state, as well as the people of the south east in general.

Mr. Chijioke Ama praised the state’s significant achievements and transformational programs during the last few years.

“Yes, Ebonyi is fast developing, I thank the President for visiting us,” Ama said.

Mrs Juliet Egbo, a petty trader said that she had started experiencing high patronage in her business as more residents come out to welcome Buhari.

“There is need to stabilise the economy of the country to reduce the hardship being experienced by citizens,” she said.

It was observed that various groups, youths, women are in their colorful attires in different streets ready to welcome the President to the state.
