BSN announces May 5 as 2022 National Bible Day

The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) has set May 5 as the date for the 2022 National Day of the Bible.

This is according to a statement released on Friday in Lagos by Mr Benjamin Mordi, Manager, Media and Public Relations, BSN.

Mordi stated that the organisation would take advantage of the opportunity to give away free Bibles to schools and individuals.

He explained that National Bible Day was established to commemorate the bible’s gift to Christendom and humanity at large.

Pastor Samuel Sanusi, the society’s General Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, was reported by Mordi as urging Nigerians to use the day to reflect on and internalize the ideals provided by the Bible.

According to Sanusi, the BSN believes that the Bible holds the answers to man’s problems, vices, and challenges, especially when its ideals are instilled in the nation’s youth, who represent the nation’s future.

According to Sanusi, if individuals adopt and live by specified biblical principles in all human dealings, our Nation’s socioeconomic and security difficulties will be considerably eased.

Sanusi believes that if the world can celebrate Workers’ Day, Independence Day, Water Day, Literacy Day, and other days, it would be great to set aside a day to honor the Bible as a gift from God to humanity and pray for the country’s well-being.

The BSN is a not-for-profit interdenominational Christian organisation.

The BSN’s mission is to translate the Bible into local languages, print and distribute the scripture, and collect finances for Bible translation and life-changing programs.

The BSN has completed the translation of the entire Bible into 26 Nigerian languages, with ten more languages undergoing translation or revision.

If a Bible translation project is completed in 12 years, it will cost the organization at least N120 million.
