After reaching an agreement with the Federal Government of Nigeria, aviation workers have decided to suspend their planned strike.

The strike was supposed to start on Tuesday, but the workers changed their minds after reaching an agreement with the Federal Ministry of Aviation in the early hours of Tuesday.

At the conclusion of the meeting, which was convened at the request of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, both sides signed the agreement.

Senator Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment, presided over the meeting, which discussed the non-implementation of the Minimum Wage consequential adjustment in aviation parastatals since 2019 and the non-approval/release of the parastatals’ reviewed conditions of service.

At the meeting between the union leaders, the Minister of Aviation, and the Minister of Labour, it was decided that by March 31, the Ministry of Aviation must ensure that the revised CoS is approved, released, and implemented for all workers in the aviation ministry’s agencies.

AccessNews had earlier reported that the Federal Government had begun to take steps to avert a nationwide strike by aviation workers.
