Ajulo Alleges Forgery of Gov Akeredolu’s Signature, Calls for Constitutional Action

In a startling revelation on Monday, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Kayode Ajulo, accused officials in the administration of Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of signing documents on behalf of the ailing governor.

Ajulo, the Principal Partner of Kayode Ajulo & Co. Castle of Law, made these claims during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show programme.

“I have it on good authority as a lawyer. Some of the commissioners, about five of them, sent memos to the governor, and they all returned with approval. Going through the approval compared to what the governor had approved when he was hale and hearty, there are notable disparities in them,” Ajulo asserted.

He suggested that the signatures on the documents were not authentic, pointing out discrepancies in the approvals given during the governor’s illness compared to when he was in good health.

Ajulo raised concerns about the constitutional transfer of power, stating that the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, cannot legally assume the governor’s position without a proper transfer of power.

He called for the invocation of the doctrine of necessity to allow the deputy governor to take over until Governor Akeredolu resumes his duties.

“The governor owes it a duty to speak with his people if he can since his health status is being funded with the same taxpayers’ money, or he should do the necessary constitutional duties, which is to delegate power to his deputy,” Ajulo emphasized.

Addressing the reported missing N7.5 billion in the state, Ajulo called for a thorough investigation into the matter, urging security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), to intervene.

He expressed concerns that some individuals might be taking advantage of the governor’s health situation to manipulate state affairs and engage in corrupt practices.

The lawyer’s allegations raise serious questions about the governance of Ondo State, calling for urgent investigation and constitutional measures to address the potential misuse of power and resources in the absence of the governor.
