Adamawa Health Worker Commits Suicide In Protest To Lover’s Death
A female Health Worker attached to Primary Health Care Centre Girei LGA in Adamawa State identified as Florence Vandi has committed suicide while protesting the death of her boyfriend.
Late Florence, an indigene of Michika LGA, who resides at Viniklang in the Girei Local Government Area, ended her life by consuming a local substance suspected to be “ota piya piya”.
A statement by the PPRO Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on Tuesday, said that the 22-year-old deceased killed herself on 12th December, 2023.
He said that the command had received a report that a 22-year-old lady identified as Florence Vandi, had committed suicide by drinking a liquid substance suspected to be “otapiyapiya”.
“The deceased took the unfortunate decision a few hours after the death of her boyfriend Nuhu Boniface who died while receiving treatment at the hospital.
“Investigation further revealed that until her death, Florence was a Health Worker attached to Girei Primary Health Care Centre.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola who expressed sadness over the incident, advised members of the public to avoid taking laws into their hands and report any suspicious movement around their neighbourhood to the police.
