Adamawa CP reads riot act to criminals, arrests 33 kidnappers, others

The new commissioner of police in Adamawa State, Sikiru Akande Kayode has read riot act to criminals with a warning to take a detour or face the wrath of the law

Kayode in his maiden press conference at the police headquarters in Yola, Tuesday, reiterated the determination of the police to work with sister agencies, state government, citizens and all other stakeholders to wipe out crime in the state.

He noted that as far as he is concerned, there is no resting place for any criminal in Adamawa State during his stewardship adding that he virtually hit the ground running resulting in the arrest of 33 criminals and recovery of various items and cash since his inception about a fortnight ago.

“The command’s crack squad/anti-kidnapping unit and other tactical units in compliance with my directives during my maiden address collaborated with hunters and our other critical stakeholders were deployed across the state to drive home our policing strategy.

“Thirty three suspects in connection to kidnapping activities, rape, culpable homicide, armed robbery among others from across the state were apprehended.

“Five AK 47 rifles, one pump action with breech No. 1911034, one locally made pistol, three vehicles, one tricycle, N937, 0000 cash were recovered,” he said.

The commissioner of police who also read riot act to politicians warned them against using thugs to foment trouble in the lead to the 2023 general election warning that anyone found wanton of instigating arson will have himself to blame regardless of his social class.

Sikiru warns parents to be circumspect in allowing strangers to have access to their children.

The CP who made the call while showcasing 22 minors of Adamawa origin who were trafficked to other states called on parents who lost contact with their children to come to the command for identification.

He called on the citizens to continue their support to the police to rid the state of crime and criminality saying that security is everybody’s business.
