281 students bag First-Class degrees in UNILAG

No fewer than two hundred and eighty-one students of Lagos State University, UNILAG, have graduated with First-Class degrees.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe disclosed this on Wednesday during a world press pre-convocation conference for the 51st convocation 2018/2019 session.

Speaking on behalf of the institution management, the VC also announced the production of additional 32 graduates with Distinctions in the various departments of the institution.

According to him, Alimi Ibrahim Adedeji, a graduate of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Science, emerged as the Best Overall Graduate for the session. Alimi scored a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.98.

Coming close to Alimi was Miss Popoola Victoria Opeyemi, a graduate of Economics from the Faculty of Basic Sciences with a CGPA of 4.90.

As part of activities for the convocation, a posthumous Emeritus Professorship will be conferred on the late Vice-chancellor, Prof Oye Ibidapo-Obe and a posthumous Doctorate Degree on late Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh.

The VC expressed appreciation to President Mohammed Buhari, the Minister of Education, and Adamu Adamu for standing for the truth.

He welcomed the new Pro-chancellor and Chairman Governing Council in the person of Dr. Lanre Tejuoso and promised to work together.
