Ronaldo’s 700th club goal gives Man Utd victory at Everton

The 700th club goal of Cristiano Ronaldo’s career was scored on Sunday at Goodison Park as Manchester United overcame a goal deficit to defeat Everton 2-1.

Erik ten Hag once again placed the five-time Ballon d’Or winner on the sidelines, but Anthony Martial’s injury gave him the opportunity to enter the game early.

By that point, Antony had cancelled out Alex Iwobi’s opening goal for Everton, bringing the score to 1-1.

Just before halftime, Ronaldo seized his opportunity to give United a well-earned three points in a contest that saw numerous mistakes from both teams.

With a game remaining, a win moves Ten Hag’s team up to sixth and within nine points of the Arsenal lead.

After losing 6-3 to Manchester City the previous weekend, the Red Devils were looking for revenge, but they got off to the worst possible start.

Casemiro was responsible for the opening goal on his first Premier League start after joining for £60 million ($67 million) from Real Madrid. Amadou Onana stole him while the ball was in his hands, and the ball eventually broke for Alex Iwobi to curl into the top corner from beyond the area.

Everton had the greatest defensive record in the league going into the game, but they were swiftly undone as United equalized within 10 minutes.

With a smooth finish from Martial’s assist, Antony became the first United player to score in his first three Premier League outings.

After pulling up with a hip injury during the warm-up, Martial only played for 30 minutes, and his exit made room for Ronaldo to enter.
