Troops Neutralize IPOB/ESN Members, Commander in Imo Operations

Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation ‘UDO KA’ have successfully neutralized four members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), including a commander of the group’s armed Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Imo state.

In a statement released by Lt.-Col. Jonah Unuakhalu, spokesman for the Task Force, the operation was conducted based on reliable intelligence. Troops carried out a special clearance operation on Monday in the Udda, Ihittukwa, and Orsumoghu communities in the Orsu Local Government Area of the state.

Despite attempts by the criminal elements to detonate Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to halt the advancing troops, the operation was successful. Troops dominated and captured the notorious stronghold of the IPOB/ESN at Mother Valley.

Unuakhalu stated, “The gallant joint troops with superior firepower forced the criminals to withdraw in disarray. In the encounter, four of the irredentists were neutralized, and others escaped with gunshot wounds.”

Among those neutralized was one of the IPOB/ESN commanders, Tochukwu, Aka Ojoto, who was in charge of the Ihietukwa Command. Despite wearing many charms, he was successfully neutralized.

Several items were recovered from the hideouts, including an AK 47 Rifle with two magazines, two automatic pump action guns, handheld Baofeng radios, a laptop, a Techno phone, car keys, a quantity of substance suspected to be marijuana, Biafran currencies, five IEDs, device-making materials, batteries for IED detonation, and assorted charms.

Maj.-Gen. Hassan Dada, the Force Commander, assured citizens of the Joint Task Force’s commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the South-East region. He urged citizens to provide timely, reliable, and credible information through the Toll-Free line 193 – Option 2.
