National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, on Monday, inducted a total of 890 2021 Batch B, Stream 1 corps members posted to Borno but deployed to Katsina
Speaking at the induction of the corps members, the NYSC Coordinator in Borno, Nura Mr Umar, assured them of adequate security and safety during their stay in the state.
The corps members were deployed to Katsina for the mandatory three-week orientation exercise.
Mr Umar told the corps members that after their three weeks orientation course, they would return back to Borno, assuring that adequate security had been provided for them.
“The prevailing security challenge in Borno informed the sighting of the temporary camp here in Katsina State.
“Immediately after we are done with the orientation exercise, we will convey them back to Borno for their primary assignment.
“I assure you that we are not going to post any corps member to the areas with security threats. We are in active collaboration with all the security agencies to safeguard the lives and property of corps members,’’ he said.
According to him, the corps members will be posted to infrastructure, education, health and agriculture sectors for their primary assignments.
He called on them to be good ambassadors of the corps and be committed to their duties, adding that they should also respect the culture, tradition and religion of their host communities.
Mr Umar further urged them to take maximum advantage of the exercise to foster national unity, socio-cultural integration and peaceful coexistence, especially at this trying time.
He commended the Katsina State government for its gesture as well as the provision of Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, training school for the exercise.
The coordinator also explained that out of the 890 corps members, 400 were males while 490 were females.
NAN reports that the oath of allegiance was administered on the corps members by a High Court judge in Borno, Justice Adamu Zandai- Mussa.
