NERC applauds EEDC for consistent transformation, employment of professionals

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has praised the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) for its unwavering commitment to achieving its long-term sustainability and transformation goals.

Mr Emeka Ezeh, EEDC’s Head of Communications, issued a statement in Enugu on Friday after the company’s Chairman, Dr Emeka Offor, led the executive management team on a courtesy call on NERC on Thursday in Abuja.

The NERC Chairman, Mr Sanusi Garba, made the commendation when he received the EEDC delegation in his office, according to Ezeh.

He said the NERC Chairman praised Offor for adding seasoned industry personnel to EEDC’s management team.

According to the EEDC spokesman, Offor used the opportunity to formally introduce the company’s new Management Executive to the Commission, following Dr Ernest Mupwaya’s recent appointment as Executive Director in-charge of Technical and Operations.

Mupwaya is bringing almost 30 years of experience in the energy industry, including his time as the Managing Director of ZESCO in Zambia, according to Ezeh.

Mupwaya was also the Commercial Director of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), where he was eventually promoted to Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, according to the EEDC spokesman.

Mr. Praveen Chorghade, Managing Director/CEO, and Mr. Paul Okeke, Executive Director, Business Finance and Administration, were among the EEDC executive management team members who visited Garba.

Mr Vincent Ekwekwu, Chief Technical Officer, and Mr Maruthi Mallepalli, Chief Operating Officer, are among the others.
