I’ll continue to invest in infrastructural development says Oyetola

Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun says his administration will continue to invest in infrastructural development for the socio-economic well-being of the people in the state.

Oyetola said this at an engagement programme organised by the State’s Civic Engagement Centre on Sunday in Ilobu, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Civic Engagement, Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, the governor described infrastructural development as an enabler of socio-economic development.

The governor said that the realisation of the significant role played by infrastructural development in socio-economic well-being has made his administration keep its focus on investing in different sectors of the state economy.

According to him, infrastructural development is a strategic asset creation targeted towards economic growth, social prosperity and poverty alleviation.

The governor said that every government that means well for its people will always prioritise such with a sincerity of purpose.

Oyetola noted that his administration had since inception, invested heavily in the critical components of the state infrastructure.

According to him, these include health, education, security, road and transport, among others with the specific intent to make life more abundant for the masses.

He said, “to ease the state inter-community transport, several road networks have either been reconstructed or rehabilitated by our administration, in addition to the construction of Olaiya junction flyover in the state capital.

“While another 22 road networks have been approved to cater for the state nine federal constituencies.

“It is also important to add that our administration has sustained the concepts of rural road construction, rehabilitation, construction of river crossing and their mechanised maintenance under the Osun Rural Access and Mobility Project (O’RAMP).

“Under this commitment, we have opened up the hinterland and tame the urban-rural migration, and many rural roads are being constructed across the three senatorial districts.

“As a matter of fact, our administration is poised to do more in improving the state capital investment through infrastructural development.

“This was the reason capital expenditure got the largest share in the 2022 budget proposal presented to the state house of assembly,” the governor said.

Earlier, Mr Taiwo Oladipupo, State Deputy Chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, commended the governor for his feat in the area of infrastructural development.

Oladipupo, who restated the support of the union to the governor, urged the government not to relent in his quest to make the state more habitable for all and sundry, especially in the area of road construction. (NAN)
