Agatu Flood Disaster: Ojema, Moro donate relief materials to victims

PDP House of Reps Candidate for Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency in the 2023 General Elections, Pst. Comr Ojotu Ojema and the Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro on Sunday, 18th September 2022, jointly donated Relief Materials to victims of flooding in Agatu LGA.

Addressing the victims shortly before the distribution exercise at Oweto, the PDP House of Reps Hopeful for Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, Comr Ojema, flanked by his amiable wife, Mrs Martha Ojema, admonished the victims to take their current ordeal as a temporal setback, assuring them that they would soon overcome their challenges.

The immediate past Commissioner for Youth & Sports Development and former State Chairman, Joint Public Service Negotiation I, II &III, Benue State thanked Comr Moro for his relentless support and show of love for the Agatu people, assuring him that the people would always queue behind him all the time.

Comr Ojema decried the lack of unity in Idoma land as the bane behind the underdevelopment of the kingdom, saying he would work together with Senator Moro for rapid transformation of Apa and Agatu if elected as a member representing the Federal Constituency in 2023.

He told the people that he has conveyed the message of the flooding to the political leader of Agatu LGA and PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate, Sir John Ngbede, adding that the only solution to the incessant flooding is the Dredging of the River Benue.

In his speech, Senator Moro, ably represented by His Legislative Aide I, Barr Joy Okpainmo sympathized with the victims of the water disaster and commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives, assuring Agatu people that he would always reciprocate their support for him with the ceaseless show of love and compassion all times.

He said he got the news about the flooding through their son, Comr Ojema and was moved to do this in order to ameliorate the suffering of the victims, advising them to relocate to safer places until the water subsides.

The OgigoMebeK’Idoma added that he would discuss with appropriate authorities such as the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in order to bring succour to the victims, encouraging them to accept their plight as a will of God.

Earlier in his welcoming speech, PDP Chairman of Usha Ward, Hon Umoru Edeh thanked Senator Moro and Comr Ojema for their kind gestures, assuring them of the total support of their people in the 2023 General Elections.

Speaking separately, PDP Chairman, Obagaji Ward and Coordinator, Agatu wards PDP Chairmen, Hon Samuel James, immediate past Supervisory Councilor on Revenue, Hon Shehu Abdullahi and the Leader of Riverine Communities in Agatu LGA, Hon Dele Agogo appreciated the donors of the relief materials for their quick responses, assuring them that their victories at the 2023 poll already assured.
